What is the purpose of a modular chiller?
In general, chillers extend the cooling capacity of an HVAC system. Modular chillers use two or more modules to expand the cooling capacity of the system, rather than a standard chiller. When these modules work together, they generate greater capacity than a standard chiller alone.

Water-cooled chillers use water to cool the surrounding environment, while air-cooled chillers use air. However, both types have the same core components including compressor, condenser, expansion device and evaporator. Within these two main types, there are also subtypes related to their compressor type: centrifugal, screw, and scroll.
